See Zelda, Elder Scrolls, The Witcher, etc.To the delight of long-time fans and newcomers, SQUARE ENIX today showcased new content and assets for Legend of Mana, the remastered version of the fourth installment in the classic Mana series, set to launch on June 24. There's a reason the best action RPGs all feature one protagonist: you should have control over all the protagonists, and since you can't control multiple characters at once in an action game, good action games have only one protagonist. Having a party of characters makes sense only in turn-based combat. These games pretend to be Zelda but fail at that. In other words, your own characters are controlled by AI, and that is just bad for the gameplay. Secret of Mana (SNES), Trials of Mana (SNES, Switch), and Legend of Mana (PS1, Switch) all masquerade as action RPGs but unfortunately involve very little exploration and have the huge problem of making you fight with a bunch of hangers-on who are pointless and ruin the combat.
Legend of mana remastered physical series#
The only two good games in the Mana series are Final Fantasy Adventure on the Game Boy (although it had different names outside of the US), a nice Zelda clone, and Children of Mana on the DS, a fun action dungeon-crawler for people who like grinding for loot. I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade here, but Legend of Mana isn't a good game.
